Carlos is a small Minnesota lake town of about 500 people, located 15 miles south of Alexandria via Highway 29. Most visitors come from the Twin Cities on I-94, exiting at Alexandria. The community sits among some of Minnesota's clearest lakes in Douglas County's rolling prairie. Lake Carlos, the town's namesake, was named after a Native American guide called Charles who helped early surveyors.
