Carlisle is a small farming town in western Indiana, about 20 miles southeast of Terre Haute via Interstate 70 and State Road 54. Most visitors take Exit 11 at Riley and drive west through rural countryside to reach this Sullivan County community of 726 residents. The town sits in gently rolling terrain typical of the Wabash River valley, surrounded by corn and soybean fields. Ed-Air Airport just outside town serves private aircraft. The historic grain elevator towers over the landscape, visible for miles across the flat farmland.
