Cardiff is a tiny Alabama community of about 125 people in Jefferson County, northwest of Birmingham. Take I-65 north for 15 miles from Birmingham, then exit onto local county roads. Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport is 25 miles southeast. The settlement sits in rolling piedmont hills with mixed forests and pastureland. Cardiff was named after the Welsh capital by early settlers who came to work the local coal mines.
