Canistota is a farming town of about 700 people in southeastern South Dakota, roughly 45 miles west of Sioux Falls on Highway 34. The main route is Highway 34 from Sioux Falls, a 50-minute drive through agricultural country, with Highway 83 providing north-south connections. The town sits in rolling prairie farmland and features one of the state's rare surviving round barns from 1914.
