Caney is a small Kansas town of about 1,400 people in Montgomery County, sitting along the Caney River about 15 miles south of Independence. US Highway 75 runs right through town, making it an easy drive from Independence or Kansas City (150 miles north). The Caney Valley Historical Society Museum is housed in an authentic 1907 railroad depot from the old Missouri Pacific line.
