Canalou is a tiny farming town of 177 people in Missouri's southeastern corner, reached via Highway 62 about 15 minutes west of Sikeston. The flat agricultural landscape grows cotton and soybeans, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Most visitors arrive via Interstate 55 to Exit 44, then follow Highway 62 west. The town still operates one of the few remaining cotton gins in the Missouri Bootheel.
