Calumet is a former copper mining town in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, reached via US-41 about 12 miles north of Houghton. Heavy winter snows make it popular with snowmobilers and cross-country skiers. The restored 1900 Calumet Theatre still hosts live performances and features original hand-painted ceiling murals.
