Caldwell is a small Texas town of about 4,400 people located 30 miles southeast of Bryan-College Station and 90 miles northwest of Houston. Highway 21 runs directly through town, connecting it east-west, while Highway 36 provides north-south access. Most visitors arrive via Highway 290 from Houston or Austin, then connect to Highway 21. The town centers around a courthouse square featuring an 1893 Romanesque Revival courthouse with a prominent sandstone clock tower.
