Byron is a small Illinois city of about 3,700 people located 85 miles northwest of Chicago along the Rock River. Take I-39 to Route 2 for the main approach, with Chicago Rockford International Airport 25 miles southeast. The town sits in farming country with easy access to both Rockford and Chicago metro areas. Byron Dragway has hosted NHRA drag racing since 1955.
