The 3,200-resident community sits in rolling Meramec River valley terrain and serves as a gateway to nearby state parks. Most visitors arrive from St. Louis on I-44, while locals use Highway 30 for daily trips to surrounding towns. The city still uses a traditional fire bell to summon its volunteer firefighters.
