Byram is a small city just south of Jackson along Interstate 55, home to about 12,800 people in Mississippi's pine hill country. I-55 connects it to Jackson in 15 minutes and serves long-distance travelers heading to New Orleans. Highway 18 provides east-west access to surrounding Hinds County communities. The annual Swinging Bridge Festival celebrates a historic pedestrian suspension bridge that once crossed the nearby Pearl River.
