Byers is a small Texas town of about 400 people in Clay County, 12 miles southwest of Wichita Falls via Highway 79. Most visitors arrive from Wichita Falls or take US 287 from Dallas-Fort Worth through Bowie. The town sits in rolling ranch country near Lake Arrowhead and was named for Noah T. Byers, whose original 1882 stone store building still stands on main street.
