Butterfield is a farming town of 535 people in south-central Minnesota, reached via Highway 60 east-west or County Road 1 north-south. Most visitors come from Mankato using Highway 169 south to Highway 60 west, while I-90 access is 30 miles south. The grain elevator towers over the prairie as a distinctive landmark visible for miles.
