Butler is a tiny farming community of under 200 people in central Illinois, about 45 miles south of Springfield via Route 127. Most visitors arrive from Interstate 70 at Vandalia, then drive north 15 miles through corn and soybean country. The town sits along the historic Vandalia Trail, once a major westward route for 1800s settlers.
