Butler is a small county seat in rural west-central Georgia, about 35 miles from Columbus and 100 miles south of Atlanta. The main routes are US 280 from Columbus through Richland, or I-75 to US 80 west from Atlanta/Macon, then SR 96 into town. The 1902 red brick courthouse with its clock tower dominates the town square.
