Burt is a small farming town of 511 people in north-central Iowa, sitting along Highway 18 in Kossuth County. The main routes are Highway 18 running east-west and Highway 169 heading north-south toward Algona. Most traffic is local agricultural business, with Algona Municipal Airport about 15 miles southeast for air travel. The old Burt Opera House on Main Street still stands from the town's more prosperous early days.
