Burrton is a farming town of 800 people in south-central Kansas, reached via US Highway 50 about 25 miles northwest of Hutchinson. The area features rolling wheat fields and a continental climate with hot summers and cold winters. Most traffic involves short trips to Newton (20 miles east) or Hutchinson for services, while Kansas Highway 61 connects north-south to Interstate 135. The town's original 1887 Santa Fe Railway depot still stands as a community center.
