Burns is a small Tennessee town of about 1,900 people, located 40 miles west of Nashville via I-40 (Exit 143). Highway 96 runs north-south through town, connecting to Fairview and the Alabama border. The area features rolling hills typical of middle Tennessee's Highland Rim region. Burns operates its own municipal electric utility, established in 1936.
