Burlington is a tiny Kane County village of about 425 people, sitting 60 miles northwest of Chicago along the Fox River. Take I-90 to the Route 47 exit near Elgin, then head north through rolling prairie farmland. The drive from Chicago takes about 90 minutes in normal traffic. Most visitors are passing through on Route 47 toward Wisconsin or exploring rural Illinois. The village still has its original 1870 one-room schoolhouse.
