Burlingame is a small Kansas town on US Highway 56, about 45 miles southwest of Topeka. Most visitors arrive via US 56 from either Topeka or Kansas City, following one of the state's main east-west routes through rolling prairie country. The town sits in typical eastern Kansas terrain with gentle hills and scattered timber. Original Santa Fe Trail markers remain visible downtown, marking where the historic route once passed through.
