Burke is a small farming town in south-central South Dakota, accessible via US Highway 18 from Winner (30 miles west) or Gregory to the east. The highway connects to Pierre about 90 miles north via US 83. Surrounded by rolling prairie farmland, Burke serves the local agricultural community and is home to Burke Community School, which doubles as the town's main gathering place for community events.
