Bunkie is a small Louisiana town along Highway 71, about 45 miles northwest of Baton Rouge in the Red River Valley. Most visitors arrive via Highway 71 from either Baton Rouge or Alexandria, with Highway 115 providing east-west connections. The area features typical central Louisiana farmland with sugarcane fields and cattle pastures. The historic railroad depot downtown preserves the town's early 1900s origins as a railway stop.
