Bucoda is a tiny Thurston County town of about 500 people, reached via State Route 507 from I-5 Exit 77 near Centralia. The 8-mile drive northeast passes through rural farmland and connects locals to Centralia for daily needs or continues north toward Olympia. It once housed Washington Territory's first prison from 1877 to 1888.
