Brownville is a historic river town of about 100 people along the Missouri River, 50 miles south of Omaha on Highway 75. Most visitors come via Highway 75 from Omaha or Nebraska City, making it a popular day trip for history buffs. The town sits on scenic bluffs overlooking the Missouri River bottoms and claims the distinction of being Nebraska's first incorporated town, founded in 1854.
