Brownsville is a small Willamette Valley city of about 1,900 people, located 20 miles northeast of Eugene via Highway 228. Most visitors exit I-5 at Halsey and drive east 8 miles on Highway 228, which connects the town to Lebanon and Sweet Home. The city sits in rolling farmland between the Cascade foothills and Willamette River, with a temperate valley climate. Its most notable landmark is a 1946 covered bridge spanning the Calapooia River downtown.
