Browndell is a tiny East Texas community of 141 people tucked into the Piney Woods about 15 miles northeast of Jasper on Highway 63. The main route from Houston runs about 140 miles via US 59 north to US 190 east, then Highway 63 north. Surrounded by dense pine and hardwood forests, it sits within the Angelina National Forest corridor where towering loblolly pines arch over the back roads.
