Broomfield straddles the Denver-Boulder corridor along US Highway 36, making it a natural stopping point between Colorado's two major Front Range cities. The community sits where the plains meet the foothills, with I-25 running along its eastern edge and clear mountain views to the west. Most visitors arrive via US 36 from either Denver (20 miles southeast) or Boulder (12 miles northwest), though the Northwest Parkway provides quicker access to Denver's airport. Broomfield holds the distinction of being both a city and county, one of only two such consolidated governments in Colorado.
