Brooks is a tiny farming community in northwestern Minnesota's Red Lake County, about 20 miles southeast of Red Lake Falls via County Road 1. The nearest major highway access is US Highway 2, which runs east-west about 15 miles north. From Grand Forks, it's roughly 45 miles via US-2 east then south on county roads through flat prairie farmland. The community centers around a historic rural post office that's served local farmers since the early 1900s.
