Brooklyn is a small Iowa farming town about 60 miles east of Des Moines, accessible via Interstate 80 and Highway 21. Most visitors exit I-80 at Grinnell and drive south on Highway 21, which doubles as Brooklyn's main street. The surrounding area features typical Midwest farmland with continental climate conditions. The town's 1904 Brooklyn Opera House remains the centerpiece of its modest downtown, still hosting community theater productions today.
