Broaddus is a small East Texas town of 390 people located along US Highway 96 in San Augustine County's Piney Woods region. The main route from Houston takes US 59 north to Lufkin, then US 96 north about 25 miles. State Highway 147 runs east-west through town, connecting to the regional road network. The area's dense pine forests and rolling terrain create a landscape unlike typical Texas imagery. Broaddus hosts the annual Piney Woods Fair each fall, drawing visitors from across the county.
