Bridgeport is a small Ohio River city of 1,450 people in eastern Ohio, right across from Wheeling, West Virginia. US Route 40 runs straight through downtown and connects to I-70 about 15 miles west, making it a convenient stop between Pittsburgh and Columbus. State Route 7 follows the river north and south. The historic suspension bridge connecting Ohio and West Virginia has been spanning the river here since the 1890s.
