Brazoria lies 45 miles south of Houston via Highway 36, the main route connecting this small Texas town to the greater metropolitan area. The city sits in Brazoria County's flat coastal plains, where the humid climate and rich soil have supported agriculture for generations. Two small regional airports, Eagle Air Park and Texas Gulf Coast Regional, serve private aviation needs. The restored 1897 courthouse now operates as the county historical museum, showcasing artifacts from when this area was part of Stephen F. Austin's original Texas colony.
