Brashear is a tiny farming community of 182 people in north-central Missouri's Adair County. Take Highway 63 about 15 miles south from Kirksville to reach it, or drive north from Columbia on the same route. The town was named after Walter Brashear, who opened the area's first store and post office in the 1870s.
