Branchville is a small railroad town in South Carolina where US 21 and US 78 meet, about an hour from both Charleston and Columbia. The area features typical Lowcountry pine forests and farmland. Most visitors arrive via Interstate 26, exiting at Orangeburg or St. George to reach the town. Branchville claims fame as the birthplace of scheduled railroad passenger service, established in 1833.
