Brainerd anchors central Minnesota's lake country where Highway 371 meets Highway 210, about 130 miles north of the Twin Cities. The Paul Bunyan State Trail runs right through downtown on an old railroad grade. Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport sits just southeast of the city. The original 18-foot-tall Paul Bunyan and Babe statues from 1937 still stand in the town center.
