Bradenton Beach occupies the southern tip of Anna Maria Island, a Gulf Coast barrier island connected to mainland Florida by the Cortez Bridge via SR 684. Most visitors drive from I-75 via SR 64 west through Bradenton, with Sarasota Bradenton International Airport about 20 miles away. The Historic Bridge Street Pier extends 200 feet into the Gulf and is the island's only license-free fishing pier.
