Boulder is a tiny Utah town of 360 people tucked into red rock country at 6,600 feet elevation. Highway 12 is the only way in, offering spectacular drives north to Capitol Reef or south to Escalante through some of America's most dramatic desert and forest scenery. It was the last place in the continental US to get mail by mule train until 1940.
