Boonsboro is a small Maryland town of 3,800 people located along historic US Route 40 in Washington County. It's easily reached via I-70 Exit 42, about 10 miles south of Hagersburg and 25 miles west of Frederick. The town sits where the old National Road crosses Antietam Creek, with Route 34 connecting south to Civil War battlefields. Boonsboro built the first monument to George Washington in 1827, a stone tower that still overlooks the town from South Mountain.
