Bluffs is a small Illinois River town of 531 people, reached via Highway 104 from Jacksonville about 25 miles southeast. The community sits on bluffs overlooking the river valley, surrounded by corn and soybean fields. Most traffic uses I-72 connections through Jacksonville for longer trips to Springfield or Quincy. The town operates one of Illinois' tiniest post offices in a converted house that doubles as an informal community center.
