Blue River is a small mountain town of about 1,400 people along Highway 9 in Summit County, sitting at 9,600 feet elevation between Breckenridge and Silverthorne. Most visitors drive up from Denver via I-70 west to Silverthorne, then south on Highway 9 for about 10 miles. The route connects to Breckenridge just 8 miles south, making it popular with ski resort visitors. The town features an authentic 1882 railroad depot from the Denver, South Park & Pacific Railroad.
