Blue Mountain is a small college town in north Mississippi's Tippah County, home to about 1,200 people and Blue Mountain College. Located 15 miles southeast of Ripley via Highway 15, it's about 75 miles from Memphis. The town sits in rolling hills typical of the region's transition zone between the Delta and Alabama foothills. Blue Mountain College, founded in 1873 as a women's institution, still anchors the community with its distinctive red-brick campus buildings lining the main street.
