Blountstown is the county seat of rural Calhoun County, sitting along the Apalachicola River about 60 miles west of Tallahassee. State Road 20 runs east-west through town, while SR-69 and SR-71 provide north-south connections. Most visitors arrive via I-10 to the SR-69 exit near Marianna, then drive 25 miles south. The city's Sam Atkins Park features a boat ramp on the blackwater Apalachicola River, popular with bass and bream fishermen.
