Bloomfield is a farming community in north-central Nebraska with about 1,000 residents. Highway 20 runs east-west through town, connecting to Norfolk 30 miles southeast and Yankton, South Dakota 45 miles northeast. Highway 59 provides north-south access to Pierce and other regional towns. Most traffic involves daily trips to Norfolk or scenic drives across northern Nebraska's rolling farmland. The town's 1918 Carnegie library is one of the few still operating in Knox County.
