Blanket is a small Texas town of about 400 people located 15 miles southeast of Brownwood via US Highway 377. The community sits in the rolling Cross Timbers region where oak woodlands meet prairie. Brownwood Regional Airport is 20 miles northwest for private flights. The town earned its unique name from a Native American blanket that early settlers found hanging on a tree at the original townsite.
