Blackwell is a small city in north-central Oklahoma, connected by US Highway 177 to Interstate 35 about 30 miles east. Most visitors take this route from I-35 through wheat farming country. State Highway 11 runs east-west through town, linking to Ponca City 25 miles away where the regional airport is located. The restored 1926 Larkin Theater on Main Street still operates with its original art deco marquee.
