Black Oak is a tiny farming town of 179 people in northeast Arkansas's Delta region, about 15 miles northwest of Jonesboro via Highway 163. Drivers from Little Rock take I-555 north through the flat cotton and soybean country. Manila Municipal Airport sits 20 miles east. Despite being one of Arkansas's smallest incorporated cities, Black Oak maintains its independence in the heart of the Mississippi River floodplain.
