Bison is a small farming town of about 400 people in northwestern South Dakota, positioned along US Highway 12 near the North Dakota border. The main route is US 12 east-west, connecting to Lemmon and eventually Interstate 90. State Highway 20 runs north-south through town. The 1917 grain elevator stands as a prairie landmark visible for miles.
