Big Sandy is a small farming town in north-central Montana, about 40 miles southeast of Havre on US Highway 87. It's positioned in wheat country where the prairie meets the distant Bear Paw Mountains. Most traffic uses US 87 connecting Great Falls and the Canadian border, with Highway 236 heading west to Fort Benton. The town's grain elevator towers over the surrounding farmland, visible for miles across the prairie.
