Bettles, AK

united states

Bettles is one of Alaska's most remote communities, sitting 35 miles north of the Arctic Circle with just 16 residents. There are no roads connecting it to the outside world - access is only by air through Bettles Airport, which receives flights from Fairbanks. The village serves as a gateway to Gates of the Arctic National Park and the Brooks Range wilderness. Vehicles here arrive by cargo plane since there's no way to drive in.
