Bethel is a tiny Sussex County community of 375 people in rural southern Delaware, about 20 miles inland from the coast. Most visitors arrive via Route 24, which runs east-west through town connecting the beaches to inland areas. From northern Delaware, take US-13 south through Dover, then Route 24 west. The town sits in farm country with a humid subtropical climate and limited services. Bethel's claim to fame is its preserved one-room schoolhouse that operated from 1878 to 1957.
